====== Installation on Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays (Android 8) ====== ===== Factory reset (if needed) ===== If the TV has been used before, it should be reset first. - Press HOME button - Select //Settings// at the top right of the screen - Select //Storage & reset// > //Factory data reset// > //Erase everything// > //Yes// If //Settings// is not available, the TV may need to be put into Pro Settings Mode first. See https://www.sony.ca/en/electronics/support/articles/00159906 or https://www.sony.ca/en/electronics/support/articles/00171707 for details. ===== Initial TV Setup ===== When the TV is turned for on the first time, a "Welcome" screen appears. - Select //English (Canada)// - Select //Skip// when asked to set up the TV with an Android phone or tablet - Select //Skip// when asked to sign in to Google - Select //Accept// to accept terms and services - Select //No// when asked to enable location - Select //No// when asked to send diagnostic information to Google to improve Android performances - Select first entry when asked to choose a name for the device - Press DOWN on the remote control multiple times to scroll down the entire Sony Privacy Policy - Select //Agree// to accept the Privacy Policy - Select //Wall Mount// when asked for the TV position - Select //Skip// when asked to change current date and time - Select //Done// to complete setup - Press RIGHT on the remote control multiple times to swipe through on-boarding information - Select //Done// to continue ===== Upgrade TV firmware ===== The TV firmware may need to be updated to use features introduced in newer versions of Android. For BZ35F models, the firmware can be updated by following those steps: - Download the firmware at https://pro-bravia.sony.net/resources/display/bz35f-series/firmware-update/index.html -- iGotcha recommends using version 6.6545 (Android 8.0). Newer versions have issues with portrait mode. - Extract the downloaded zip file and copy the content (which is another zip file) to the root folder of a USB key. - Plug the USB key into the TV - A dialog should appear on the TV, follow instructions - While the update is in progress, the display will turn black and the power light will pulse slowly - Wait around 15 minutes for the power light to turn off (The TV may reboot multiple times) - Press POWER to turn the TV back on. ===== Switch to Pro Settings Mode ===== Professional Sony TVs can be booted into three different modes: //normal mode//, //pro settings mode//, and //pro mode//. To setup the TV, it needs to be switched to //pro settings mode//. - Select //Pro mode tool// from the home screen - Select //Pro settings mode// from the right side bar - Select //OK// - Wait for the TV to restart ===== Enable ADB ===== ADB needs to be enabled for network app install, and to be able to control the device remotely. - Press HOME - Select //Settings// at the top right of the screen - Select //About// - Press DOWN on the remote control until //Build// is selected - Press CENTER on the remote control seven times to enable developer options - Press BACK to go back to the main setting menu - Go to //Developer options//, and turn on //ADB Debugging// ===== Install iGotcha Signage ===== iGotcha Signage can be installed either using a USB stick or from the network. ==== Option A - Install using a USB stick ==== A USB stick formatted as FAT32 is required. Copy the iGotcha Signage APK file to a USB stick, plug the USB stick in the TV, and follow those steps: - Press HOME - Select //Settings// at the top right of the screen - Select //Pro settings// - If asked to give file access to Pro mode, select //Allow// - If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimePrivilege, select //Allow// - If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimeNormal, select //Allow// - If asked to give file access to WebAppRuntime, select //Allow// - Select //Install APK// - Select the iGotcha Signage APK file - Select //Install// to confirm installation - Wait for install to complete - Select //Done// ==== Option B - Install from the network ==== First, note the IP address of the TV. To get the IP address, follow those steps: - Select //Settings// at the top right of the screen - Select //About// - Select //Status// On a Windows computer: - Download //Android SDK Platform Tools for Windows// from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools - Extract the downloaded zip file - Open the extracted //platform-tools// folder in File Explorer - Copy the iGotcha APK file in that //platform-tools// folder - Press CTRL+L to select the Window Explorer navigation bar - Type ''cmd'' in the navigation bar, and press ENTER. This will open a Command prompt window - In the command prompt, type ''adb connect 1.2.3.4'' while replacing 1.2.3.4 with the IP address of the TV, and press ENTER. - On the TV, select //Ok// to accept the connection - In the command prompt, type ''adb install iGotchaSignage-Android-*.apk'', and press ENTER. - On the TV, a Google Play Protect dialog may appear.
