Installation on Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays

If the TV has been used before, it should be reset first.

  1. Press HOME button
  2. Select Settings at the top right of the screen
  3. Select Storage & reset > Factory data reset > Erase everything > Yes

If Settings is not available, the TV may need to be put into Pro Settings Mode first. See Switch to Pro Settings Mode for details.

When the TV is turned for on the first time, a “Welcome” screen appears.

  1. Select English (Canada)
  2. Select Skip when asked to set up the TV with an Android phone or tablet
  3. Select Skip when asked to sign in to Google
  4. Select Accept to accept terms and services
  5. Select No when asked to enable location
  6. Select No when asked to send diagnostic information to Google to improve Android performances
  7. Select first entry when asked to choose a name for the device
  8. Press DOWN on the remote control multiple times to scroll down the entire Sony Privacy Policy
  9. Select Agree to accept the Privacy Policy
  10. Select Wall Mount when asked for the TV position
  11. Select Skip when asked to change current date and time
  12. Select Done to complete setup
  13. Press RIGHT on the remote control multiple times to swipe through on-boarding information
  14. Select Done to continue

Professional Sony TVs can be booted into three different modes: normal mode, pro settings mode, and pro mode. To setup the TV, it needs to be switched to pro settings mode.

  1. Select Pro mode tool from the home screen
  2. Select Pro settings mode from the right side bar
  3. Select OK
  4. Wait for the TV to restart

ADB needs to be enabled for network app install, and to be able to control the device remotely.

  1. Press HOME
  2. Select Settings at the top right of the screen
  3. Select About
  4. Press DOWN on the remote control until Build is selected
  5. Press CENTER on the remote control seven times to enable developer options
  6. Press BACK to go back to the main setting menu
  7. Go to Developer options, and turn on ADB Debugging

iGotcha Signage can be installed either using a USB stick or from the network.

A USB stick formatted as FAT32 is required.

Copy the iGotcha Signage APK file to a USB stick, plug the USB stick in the TV, and follow those steps:

  1. Press HOME
  2. Select Settings at the top right of the screen
  3. Select Pro settings
    1. If asked to give file access to Pro mode, select Allow
    2. If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimePrivilege, select Allow
    3. If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimeNormal, select Allow
    4. If asked to give file access to WebAppRuntime, select Allow
  4. Select Install APK
  5. Select the iGotcha Signage APK file
  6. Select Install to confirm installation
  7. Wait for install to complete
  8. Select Done

First, note the IP address of the TV. To get the IP address, follow those steps:

  1. Select Settings at the top right of the screen
  2. Select About
  3. Select Status

On a Windows computer:

  1. Download Android SDK Platform Tools for Windows from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
  2. Extract the downloaded zip file
  3. Open the extracted platform-tools folder in File Explorer
  4. Copy the iGotcha APK file in that platform-tools folder
  5. Press CTRL+L to select the Window Explorer navigation bar
  6. Type cmd in the navigation bar, and press ENTER. This will open a Command prompt window
  7. In the command prompt, type adb connect 1.2.3.4 while replacing 1.2.3.4 with the IP address of the TV, and press ENTER.
  8. On the TV, select Ok to accept the connection
  9. In the command prompt, type adb install iGotchaSignage-Android-*.apk, and press ENTER.
  10. On the TV, a Google Play Protect dialog may appear. If so, select Decline.
  11. In the command prompt, type adb disconnect, and press ENTER.

The TV needs to be configured for signage.

  1. Press HOME
  2. Select Settings at the top right of the screen
  3. Select Power > Eco > Idle TV standby > Off
  4. Select Pro settings
    1. If asked to give file access to Pro mode, select Allow
    2. If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimePrivilege, select Allow
    3. If asked to give file access to NodeRuntimeNormal, select Allow
    4. If asked to give file access to WebAppRuntime, select Allow
  5. Select AC power on > Always on
  6. Select Developer Options > Power state control by apps > OK
  7. Select Apps > iGotcha Signage Player > Enable
  8. Select Apps > Pro mode tool > Enable

Next, the iGotcha Signage app needs to be setup.

  1. Press HOME
  2. Select Apps > iGotcha
  3. Select Settings
  4. Turn on Auto restart
  5. Turn on Auto update
  6. Select Settings from the dialog box that appeared
  7. Turn on iGotcha Signage Player
  8. Press BACK
  9. Select Settings again from the dialog box that appeared
  10. Select Accessiblity > iGotcha Automation > Enable > OK
  11. Press BACK three times
  12. Make sure that Auto update is turned on
  13. Turn on Remote access
  14. Press BACK
  15. Select Player Setup
  16. Enter player id
  17. Select Launch

To complete the installation, the TV needs to be rebooted in pro mode.

  1. Press HOME
  2. Select Pro Mode tool > Open
  3. Select Pro Mode > OK
  4. Wait for the TV to restart

Once the TV is restarted, iGotcha Signage should start automatically after few seconds.
